The Plant’s Year In Review: Celebrating Our First Year in Yonkers

The Plant team and Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, celebrating the dispensary's grand opening with balloons and smiles.

As we reflect on the past year, we are grateful for all the incredible moments we’ve shared with our community already. From our grand opening to the unforgettable events that brought us closer together, this year has been a testament to the power of connection, education, and, of course, cannabis. We’re so proud to be a part of the Yonkers community and excited to share some of the highlights from our journey so far.

May: Opening our doors

On May 9, we kicked off an exciting new chapter for Yonkers as we opened our doors for the very first time! The Plant became the city’s first legal adult-use cannabis dispensary, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to share this moment with the community.

At 3:30 p.m., we hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony with remarks from Yonkers’ Mayor Mike Spano, marking our official grand opening. As the seventh licensed dispensary in the Lower Hudson Valley, this was a huge step forward in bringing quality, legal cannabis to Yonkers—and we’re just getting started!

July (and beyond): Walters Hot Dogs pop-up

This summer, we relished the opportunity to team up with the legendary Walter’s Hot Dogs for a series of pop-ups in our parking lot! On Sundays, July 14, 28, August 4, and September 1, we served up delicious complimentary snacks for our shoppers, adding some extra flavor to each visit. It was all about good food, great vibes, and even better company. These pop-ups were a hit and we can’t wait to do it again soon!

August: Education series

August was all about learning, and we were stoked to bring you a lineup of top-notch cannabis education sessions! From Wyld on August 10 to Highland Goat on August 16, Dank by Definition on August 25, and Jaunty on August 30, we had something for everyone! Each session brought fresh insights straight from the source, and we loved connecting with you all.

September: Labor Day sweet treats with Small Cakes

On September 2, we celebrated in the best way possible—by treating our amazing customers to delicious cupcakes from Small Cakes! From 12 PM, we had a sweet spread of freshly baked goodies to enjoy, adding some extra sweetness to your holiday weekend. Big thanks to everyone who stopped by to indulge in the fun and flavors!

September: Paint Night @ The Plant

We hosted an unforgettable Paint Night on Friday, September 27, where attendees got to unleash their creativity and paint their very own ceramic bongs or pipes. Each bong came complete with a silicone sleeve and glass bowl, ready for your personal touch. The pieces were kiln-fired and returned to The Plant in about a week for pickup. It was a fun, laid-back night of painting, laughter, and good vibes.

October: Croptober celebration

Croptober at The Plant was an absolute blast! We threw the ultimate celebration on October 26, from 12 PM to 6 PM, and the vibe was off the charts. We kicked things off with ridiculously tasty sweets from Small Cakes NY washed down with delicious coffee from Ramblin Coffee. Guests also got to experience readings from psychic medium Francine Tesler and pick up some joint-rolling tips from our sponsor, DANK. Anthony and our fantastic staff kept the energy high all day with great specials, and we couldn’t have asked for a better crowd.

October: Revelry festival

What a day at the Revelry event at Pier 36! We had an incredible time on October 5, connecting with old friends, meeting new faces, and soaking up the electric energy that only NYC can bring. With performances from Joey Bada$$ and Kota the Friend, as well as live mural paintings, it was all about the culture, the community, and, of course, cannabis. From the vibes to the conversations, there was nothing but love all around. We’re already counting down to next year!

Looking ahead: the best is yet to come

As we wrap up this incredible year, we can’t help but feel excited for what’s ahead! The Plant has been a labor of love, and we’re beyond grateful for your support. Whether it’s more events, education, or simply being part of this fantastic community, we can’t wait to see what the future holds. Here’s to more growth, connection, and unforgettable moments in the year to come.
